Fran Osborn-Blaschke's Curve Of The Earth

In anticipation of the third issue of The Exposure Project Book, slated for release in late August, I am going to be posting some work that will be included in the publication. Fran Osborn-Blaschke is a Boston-based photographer whose project Curve Of The Earth takes a rather scientific approach to landscape photography. As the artist states:

"Think of how cities and countries appear on a schoolroom globe. To make these, the camera points directly East for sunrises, directly West for sunsets and is tilted to accurately represent how the horizon is inclined at its latitude. By making photographs of the same location at different times of the year it is possible to capture the movement of the Sun as it slides North and South along the horizon."

Issue 3 of The Exposure Project Book Coming Soon

It's been a while since this blog has posted any Exposure Project related news; however, since we are nearing the release of the third issue of The Exposure Project Book I wanted to share the details with you all. The new issue will contain photographs from: Ben Alper, Anastasia Cazabon, Lauren Edwards, Kate Emerson, Adam Marcinek, Fran Osborn-Blaschke, Justin James Reed and Eric Watts. In addition, Jörg Colberg of Conscientious notoriety has written us a wonderful forward on the state of contemporary photography that will preface the photographs.

I will post further details when we have more information about the release.

Featured Artist: Sarah Claire Ahlers

Sarah Claire Ahlers is a Boston-based photographer currently working on long-term photography projects. She will be featured in an upcoming Exposure Project exhibition at the Arlington Center for the Arts, showing work from series of landscape photographs that represent people through the depiction of their belongings. Sarah Claire makes thoughtful, autobiographical photographs that speak as much to her own history as they do to the history of the places she captures. As Sarah Claire states:

I photograph found items, places, collections and sometimes what is discarded to make a picture of what I think they are. My influences stem from my experiences of home life; the pictures I make are often illustrative of my family.

Our First Featured Artist, David Wolf

The Exposure Project is dedicated to highlighting emerging talent in the field of Photography. As a result, we will feature one new artist in every forthcoming issue of the Exposure Project book. Our first featured artist is David Wolf. David is an Oakland based photographer, currently working towards his MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. His honest and unequivocal portraits portray his subjects within the demographically diverse construct of recreational parks in the United States. In these photographs he has distilled the essence, and often palpable vulnerability of the people he meets.
